Good Morning Carmen, we returned yesterday from the most terrific vacation of my life and want to thank you for the absolutely perfect itinerary and accommodations you provided for me. Switzerland was just magnificent and the trains are a model of efficiency and timing. I was laughing because my plane arrived 10 minutes early, customs and getting my bags took 10 minutes and I made the 8:13 train to Bern with minutes to spare, just like you said! I loved Murren and the Hotel Blumental. The hikes were here were beautiful, each more stunning than the next. The one day it rained was my travel day to Zermatt, so the town was smothered in clouds when I arrived. But the next morning was brilliant sunshine with the spectacular Matterhorn looming over the town. Just amazing! My hikes here were also incredible and that morning I caught the first tram to the top of the Rothorn. I was the only person there for about half an hour with the glacier on one side, the Matterhorn in front and snow covered mountains all around framed against a deep blue sky with only the sound of silence. I will remember this moment for all my life. Then back to Zurich, (by now I was very good with the trains!), and a fun afternoon walking up one side and then down the other of the river. Carmen, I cannot thank you enough for all you have done for me. Everything was just perfect. The way you did the train pass was ideal, the route, the written itinerary, the train schedules, the hotels were all excellent. You did a superb job and I am grateful for all your hard work. Dear Connie, I'd like you to know that the itinerary you planned for me was perfection. The hotels were lovely, the train recommendations were spot on and the variety of locations was just right for me. I cannot thank you enough. I enjoyed each and every moment in your beautiful homeland. Highlights for me were a lovely sunny, autumn ride on the Glacier Express; beautiful days at Klein Matterhorn and the Jungfraujoch (despite everyone telling me not to go because the weather wouldn't be good); and the warm hospitality of practically everyone I met. I ate far too much cheese and chocolate, sampled far too many of the local rieslings, but enjoyed myself all the same. I can't wait to return some day. Good Morning Gabi, Our time in Switzerland was truly wonderful and we are so grateful to you and Magic Switzerland for your expertise and planning. All directions to hotels were very precise, making it very easy for us to negotiate. The Hotels were great – some better than others of course, and, importantly, very well located and spotlessly clean! We loved the Hotel du Theatre in Zurich - despite the small room and pint sized bathroom, it worked! We were very happy with Hotel Hauser in St Moritz and loved Hotel Perren in Zermatt – the view to the Matterhorn was breathtaking and the berries for breakfast will live long in our memory! Hotel Eden Palace du Lac was an experience – a beautiful property with wonderful views of Lake Geneva and, while we did not have a front room looking over the Lake, we were able to join Marise and Brian and share their view. The two Best Western Hotels (Interlaken and Geneva) were certainly adequate but could not compare with the individuality of the other properties. The Swiss Rail Pass worked well - all train journeys were breathtakingly beautiful and thoroughly enjoyable. Their precision was no surprise! Both the Glacier Express and Golden Pass journeys were highlights, despite the inclement weather prevailing on the day we enjoyed VIP seating on the Golden Pass. Views can still be beautiful in bad weather! John and I used the Pass to buy our tickets for the Cog Railway to Gornergrat (Glacier Paradise) and were “blown away” by the beauty of the glaciers – that was certainly a highlight and we thank you for the suggestion. Connie, it was absolutely wonderful. A trip of a lifetime. Believe it or not, but we enjoyed the rain. It added a nice ambiance. The hikes were amazing. My favorite was Wengen. It was so beautiful and peaceful. I really relaxed on this trip. Andrew and I had the most memorable and special time together. We really appreciated everything you put together for us. Dear Carmen, we had an absolutely wonderful time. We enjoyed Switzerland the most, with Brienz, Muerren and the Grandhotel Giessbach being the highlights. The Giessbach was the best hotel we've ever stayed at and the scenery around the hotel was breathtaking. I suggest every visitor to Switzerland stay here for at least one night. The Swiss train system was very impressive, everything was completely on schedule, well maintained and a joy to ride. The Glacier Express train was especially enjoyable with its beautifully designed lunch cars. Every single person we talked to in the country was respectful, polite, professional and very easy going. The service industry there is second to none. And of course, the scenery is second to none as well. I still cannot get over how beautiful the Brienz Rothorn Kulm and Brienzersee area is - our favorite place in the country, for sure. As for Germany, it was a much more modern and metropolitan place that felt more like "home" to us than Switzerland, but it didn't have that "magic" that Switzerland did. However, once again we were impressed by how kind everyone was, from Fuessen to the Oktoberfest and throughout the rest of the country. I know a little German, and I think people appreciated that I tried to communicate with them normally instead of in English, even though they all knew English anyway. Perhaps the best thing about this trip, though, was how perfectly our itinerary was put together by you! When we ever had any doubts about what to do next, we just opened up that packet and problem solved. There is no way we could have done this trip without your help, so Jasmine and I would like to thank you deeply for that. You gave us two of the best weeks of our lives. Thanks again, Steve E.

Hi Connie, we had a wonderful trip! No problems, mostly good weather and lots of beautiful and interesting places. Berner Oberland was great and the Hotel Silberhorn was super. The Hotel Suisse Majestic was also great. We loved having a balcony overlooking the lake. The Hotel du Theatre was fine, but he room was pretty cramped. We had a good tour around in Zurich. Oh, we really enjoyed having the rail pass and used it for several museums in addition to trains, trams, funiculars and a boat. Gary R.

Dear Pepe, our trip through Switzerland was wonderful and special because of your exquisite itinerary and planning. Your directions from the train stations to the hotels were particularly very helpful. We were picked up by a very friendly and helpful gentleman at the Zurich Airport and got settled into our beautiful and newly renovated rooms at the St. Gotthard Hotel. We received a nice welcome package in our rooms. The next day we left for Lucerne. We were upgraded in Lucerne to their newly acquired and renovated Magic Hotel. The rooms were elegant and beautiful, but the noise level from the cafe below required us to use earplugs to sleep. We enjoyed a boat cruise and the trip up to Mt. Pilatus with its wonderful view. At Grindelwald we were welcomed at the Hotel Belvedere by the most friendly staff person, Simon, and were given a welcomed drink and a fruit and candy package in the room. Both rooms had the most spectacular view of the Eiger Mt. We visited the Jungfrau one day and then over to Muerren and the Trummelbach Falls. What a fantastic area!!!! Our train connections worked out very well through out our visit in Switzerland. We left Grindelwald early and arrived at the Hotel Mirabeau in Zermatt with time enough to go to Gornergrat and have lunch at the Kulm Hotel. Our hotel room was very nice and had a great view. The rooms at the Hotel Suisse-Majestic in Montreux were very nice and again had a nice view of the lake. Next day we visited Gruyeres and the cheese factory and Nestle's chocolate factory. The town of Gruyeres was interesting as well as the cheese factory. I guess our most favorite place to visit was Grindelwald, because there was so much to see and with it's spectacular scenery. Again thanks for your assistance to detail and recommended itinerary. We would gladly recommend your services to others traveling to Switzerland. Ralph P.

Hi Carmen, I finally have a minute to tell you all about our trip. First of all, I would like to thank you for arranging a spectacular vacation for Greg and me. All of the arrangements were first class and the cities could not have been any more beautiful. The people were very friendly and were very accommodating. Greg and I both agree that Lucerne was the most beautiful. However, we enjoyed Berne the most. Did Greg tell you that he gained 7 lbs? That will tell you how much we enjoyed the food. Both Greg and I agree the trip would not have been at all successful without your input. The itinerary you arranged made it so easy for Greg and me to travel from one place to the next. We even decided to detour one day and had lunch in Interlaken. Your service is invaluable to travelers unfamiliar with the European rail and bus systems! We brought back lots of chocolate and I agree with you, the bread is simply out of this world. My favorite parts were the crystal clear water in all of the lakes and rivers, the beautiful flowers, the outdoor cafes and markets, the delicious wine, and the beautiful old buildings. It surprised me how clean and comfortable the European trains are. Even the public restrooms were clean. It was most fun to be a part of the World Cup Soccer festivities on Sunday evening. We saw the Bears in Bern. We ascended to the top of Pilatus. We saw the Lion in Lucerne and we enjoyed the Alpine Museum. Again, thank you for all of your help. Best Regards, Karen G.

Carmen, It was a great trip!!! Glad to get your email because I was planning to send you a big "thank you" email! Your itinerary was perfect and so very clear, we had no problems. All hotels were very good. Monte Rosa the best; the Eden au Lac hotel in Montreux next best. The Adler hotel was very nice, the location could not have been better. Excellent suggestion to only take the Glacier Express to Andermatt. All day would have been too much. Bottom line, we were very happy with the tip and all the good memories we made. Dear Carmen, the trip was great - everything was well scheduled. All the Hotels were great the one in Zermatt was really nice. Zermatt is an impressive place. Very impressed with the Swiss train system - left within a minute or two of when scheduled. We took a boat ride in Lucerne and it was beautiful. Carmen, we had a wonderful time and enjoyed Switzerland as much as any trip we've made to Europe. The weather turned out to be far better than I expected and we were able to do everything we had planned. Lucerne was like they never had any flooding. This is the first trip to Europe where we moved from place to place so often. In the future I would plan to stay no less than 2 nights in any given place. This would allow a more leisure experience. The transportation system in Switzerland is fantastic! It is very easy to travel from place to place. Everything is right on schedule and clearly identified. The fact that English is spoken everywhere adds to the ease of getting around. Also the Swiss Pass is great. No standing in line to get tickets as well as a money saver. We ended up taking the boat from Montreux to Geneva. It was a beautiful day and we were able to enjoy a relaxing time seeing a good part of Lake Geneva. Hello Carmen, we had the most marvellous time in Switzerland - everything went according to your schedule and more. We were so impressed with the trains and the scenery. We enjoyed the trip from Locarno to Domodossola so much - the scenery was spectacular. In Interlaken we even went sledding one day down the Eiger run - Apiglen to Grindelwald - we even did it twice. Dear Carmen, we returned home last night. I want to thank you again for all your help and your great recommendations! We had a fantastic time in Switzerland - the folks at the Hotel Alpenruh were very nice and staying for the 5 nights in Muerren was the perfect thing for us. We hiked everyday and had beautiful weather - we left feeling that this was a place we want to return to - many more hikes to do! By the time we left Muerren, the train between Interlaken and Lauterbrunen was running again. We were certainly impress by Swiss efficiency! The Novotel in Zurich (a very good idea, as it turned out, since we were quite tired from our flight and having a day to just walk around Zurich while we acclimated was quite welcome) was very comfortable and the transportation to and from the airport/train station couldn't have been easier. The Hotel Chalet Swiss in Interlaken was delightful! The staff there were especially friendly and helpful. We had a lovely day in Interlaken. The train to Geneva was quite smooth - though we were surprised to find the Geneva train station much older and far less comfortable than any of the others we visited - but everything worked just fine. Our seats on the TGV to Avignon were quite comfortable. So, thanks again for all your help. We'll happily give your name to any of our friends traveling to Switzerland! Gratefully, Deborah N.

Hi Carmen - We did have a great time. You did a wonderful job for us - it was all so smooth - no problems. We loved Lucerne, Muerren, and had some fantastic trips from Interlaken (which has become such a touristy place! - A very good base, tho'). Locarno ended up being a bad choice for us - we were bored, did nothing but walk around the town and read a lot, while suffering from the bloody heat. We did much better in the Alps, where we did a lot of hiking and walking. All in all, it was a very good trip. Thank you again.
