The first stage leads from Scuol on the border with the Swiss National Park along to the little Alpine village of S-charl and over the Pass da Costainas (2251m) into the Münstertal valley.

TSCHIERV - LIVIGNO / IT 40 km - 25 miles
The Val Mora valley is renowned for its magnificent mountain landscape and rich wildlife. From the Passo Val Mora (1934m), the route crosses the border to Italy and leads on to the Lago di S.Giacomo and Lago di Livigno.

LIVIGNO - ST.MORITZ 44 km - 28 miles
The Chaschauna pass is one of the highest obstacles on the Alpine Bike route at 2694m high. This is followed by a descent down to Oberengadin and on to S-chanf and a relaxing journey through the «champagne climate» to St.Moritz.

Livigno, SwitzerlandST.MORITZ - BIVIO 37 km - 23 miles
The stretch along the magnificent Ober - engadiner lakes is pure pleasure. The comfort, however, ends just before the Maloja - pass (1815m) where even the most experienced cyclists are sure to walking by the time they reach the Pass da Sett (2310m).

BIVIO - THUSIS (SUMMAPRADA) 54 km - 34 miles
The valley stretch from Bivio down to Tiefencastel and Thusis (720m) offers a chance to relax.

THUSIS - SAFIEN (THALKIRCH) 25 km - 16 miles
The next climb right after Thusis is the Glaspass (1816m). The Safiental valley is home to the traditional «Walserhaus» buildings made from dark wood.

Safien, SwitzerlandSAFIEN - LUMBREIN 49 km - 31 miles
A varied route which first passes through the Tomulpass (2412m), popular with cyclists, down to the Valsertal valley. In Vals, a visit to the thermal baths, built by a re nowned architect, is a must.

LUMBREIN - DISENTIS 43 km - 27 miles
Today it’s the Vorderrhein valley. The region known as «Surselva» is one of the last remaining areas where Rhaeto-Romance languages are spoken on a daily basis. The abbey town of Disentis is the destination for part 1 of the Alpine Bike route.

DISENTIS - ANDERMATT 44 km - 28 miles
The route branches off to the left shortly before the Oberalppass and leads on over the Maighelspass (2421m) and through the Unteralptal valley to Andermatt.

Andermatt, SwitzerlandANDERMATT - MEIRINGEN 57 km - 36 miles
The spectacular obstacle for this day is the Sustenpass (2264m) and the Steingletscher glacier. The MTB route leads upwards to the top of the pass, mostly away from the road. Before reaching Meiringen, a visit (on foot) to the Aare gorge is well worthwhile.

MEIRINGEN - GRINDELWALD 28 km - 18 miles
Today’s route offers the very best the Alps have to offer: crossing the Grosser Scheidegg (1962m) provides breathtaking views of the famous Bernese Oberland peaks of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.

GRINDELWALD - INTERLAKEN 39 km - 25 miles
Take a sidetrip from Kleine Scheidegg (2061m) to Jungfraujoch by rack railway. Then follows a downhill ride to Lauterbrunnen, requiring some technical skill.

Adelboden, SwitzerlandINTERLAKEN - ADELBODEN 63 km - 27 miles
A more comfortable stretch along the Thunersee lake with a panoramic stection leading up to approx. 1000m above sea le vel via Aeschi and along the Sundgraben to the Kiental valley and finally the Aengst ligental valley and up to Adelboden.

ADELBODEN - GSTAAD 44 km - 28 miles
The Hahnenmoospass (1950m), the magnificent Simmental valley, the Saanenmöser mountain pass and finally the resort of Gstaad, popular with celebrities, all ensure that this is a relaxing stretch through the picture-perfect landscape of the Bernese Ober land with no big obstacles to tackle.

Gstaad, SwitzerlandGSTAAD - LES DIABLERETS 45 km - 28 miles
The route reaches another challenging point between Saanen and Château d’Oex, providing cyclists with the opportunity to experience the world of the Alpine dairies and cheese production at close range in Pays d’Enhaut.

LES DIABLERETS - AIGLE 30 km - 19 miles
The route leads on to Leysin and to the Yvorne vineyards, ending in the little town of Aigle, renowned for its white wines and located by Lake Geneva.
