Dec 02 Departure from the USA on your desired airline. We will assist participants with booking the best available flights. The flight is not included in your package price.
Dec 03 Independent arrival at the Zurich Airport. A quick 1-hour ride by train will take us to Basel, our base for the next 5 nights, ideally located on the Rhine river, where Switzerland, Germany and France meet. Our home is the centrally located Hotel Schweizerhof***, breakfast is included every day.
Dec 04 Today we will enjoy a first look at Basel with a half-day Christmas Tour of Basel incl. Visit of the world famous shop of Johann Wanner, including cocktails and snacks. Johann Wanner, Basel, is the world's largest manufacturer of handmade Christmas decorations. Among his customers are the Queen of England and the White House. On a sales area covering 500 square meters in the Johann Wanner's Christmas House, you will find every imaginable Christmas decor - all year round The Basel Christmas Market is the oldest and most popular Christmas Market in Switzerland.
Dec 05 Our full day excursion will take us to the Black Forest in Germany. Visit Schoenach, one of the oldest and most famous cookoo clocks. Lunch in a traditional restaurant. In the afternoon we will visit the Christmas market in Freiburg, Germany. We will return to Basel for overnight.
Dec 06 We will drive to France, along the wine-street of the Alsace and arrive in Colmar, enjoy a tour and lunch. We continue to Strasbourg to visit its Christmas markets and return to Basel in the evening for overnight.
Dec 07 Today is a full day at your own leisure to shop the Basel Christmas Markets. If you feel adventurous, you may take a train to Bern or Zurich or Luzern and visit its Christmas Market. If you've filled your desire to shop, you may enjoy the day visiting one of the many museums Basel is famous for, or visit the Basel Zoo, which is Europe's most attractive zoo or ask us for ideas of things to do for the day.
Dec 8 We will take the train back to Zurich Airport for our journey back home.
