Selfie Moments in Switzerland

Switzerland is a very photogenic country with snowy mountains in winter, amazing colors in autumn, lush green landscapes in summer and blooming nature in spring. Additionally, there are many cities which are absolutely worth a visit because of their charming old towns like Bern or Lucerne and some pretty villages in the mountains with traditional housings. Switzerland showcases natural wonders at its best with an impressive mountain scenery, sparkling lakes and waterfalls, rolling hills and picturesque towns.

But where are the best selfie spots in Switzerland? Find here 10 recommendations from our side, allowing you to take great selfies to be showcased on your social media pages. Don’t forget to bring your selfie stick ;-).

Chapel Bridge, Lucerne

I felt so enthralled when visiting this bridge for the first time. It spans across the peacefully flowing River Reuss, right in the heart of Lucerne, and is one of the first places tourists flock to when stepping foot into the city. It’s decorated with bright floral bouquets in the summer months and provides a fantastic spot to look out on the rest of Lucerne’s remarkably beautiful sights. Don’t forget to look up at the paintings etched into the rustic roof. They tell a story of the city’s history, which would make a great addition to your own Instagram stories and educate your eager followers. For an extra magical moment for your feed, head to the wooden wonder at night and enjoy its ambient glow, which lights up the entire city.

Zurich Airport Observation Decks
Compact, close to the city centre, almost astonishingly clean and home to many great shops and restaurants, Zürich Airport is hard not to love. But for plane spotters, it gets even better thanks to its duo of observation decks. At Deck B, for which there is a small admission charge, you can pinpoint not only planes from the observation walkway but pilots in the cockpit as well. For the best views of long haul birds such as the A380, hop on the free shuttle bus (during summer only) from Deck B over to the outdoor passenger Deck E.

Old Town Bern
The Old Town of Bern is listed as a UNESCO world heritage site and is covered in 6 km of arcades. I took pictures of the Zytglogge tower (clock tower), the Aare River, the figure wells from the Renaissance, the Bern Cathedral and the Bear Park to name only a few of the photo spots. No matter what season you visit the city, every corner of Bern’s old town is photogenic. No wonder Bern was elected “the most Instagrammable winter city in the world” in 2017 by the Evening Standard.

Broken Chair, Geneva
Geneva is well known as the headquarters of many international organizations and among the most famous ones are the United Nations. Just in front of the building you will find one of the most famous sculptures in Geneva, the monumental Broken Chair. It was installed on the Place des Nations in 1997 and constructed by the sculptor Daniel Berset at the request of Handicap International as it was calling for the signature of the treaty against land mines. It is impressive 12 meters high!

Titlis Cliff Walk, Engelberg
The Titlis Cliff Walk is a pedestrian bridge along the cliff of Mount Titlis in the Swiss Alps. Built at around 3,000 meters (10,000 ft) above sea level, it is believed to be the highest-elevation suspension bridge in Europe. I felt a little shaking when I was crossing the bridge. It takes around 150 heart-pounding steps to reach the other side of the bridge. If you dare you can take a selfie while enjoying the magnificent views around. The experience is definitely not to be missed!

Paragliding over Interlaken
Fly like a bird through the majestic mountains of the Swiss Alps. After just a few steps, you and your expert pilot will be airborne, gently gliding away from the take-off hillside and soaring high above Interlaken. After a breathtaking 20-minute flight, touch down gently in the middle of Interlaken. Paragliding is an amazing experience for both young and old. Don’t forget to make photos or videos while you up there – lots of Likes guaranteed.

Famous train views of the Rhaetian Railways, Grisons
The Rhaetian Railways in the Albula/Bernina Landscape is listed as UNESCO World Heritage site. The route covers the railroad tracks between Thusis and Tirano and is among the most spectacular narrow-gauge railways in the world. It also features one of the most famous photo spots in Eastern Switzerland: the Landwasser Viaduct near Filisur, a must-see for every rail aficionado. Make sure to be ready to take pictures!

Here is what you do in a mountain meadow in Mürren, Switzerland. First, you get out there and take a breath of clean, fresh air. Next, take photos! This is the place from where you have amazing views onto Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.

Stellisee Zermatt
You might already be familiar with pictures of the Stellisee. The sight of the Matterhorn reflected on its mirror-like surface is breathtakingly beautiful, and is just made for magnificent photographs. That is why this place has been photographed millions of times and is known all over the world.
