Basel is one of the gateways to Switzerland and includes a beautiful historic Old Town and many museums and art galleries. Depending in which direction you cruise, we recommend you to add a Rhine cruise extension through Switzerland or a visit of Switzerland before boarding a cruise Rhine downwards to Amsterdam. Switzerland is also a hiking paradise. Visits can also be combined with the Glacier Express and or any other scenic train in Switzerland. Our clients most favorite cruise extensions in Switzerland are to the lakeside city of Lucerne and the Bernese Oberland to see the famous peaks Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau. This can be done in 2 - 4 days. If you have more time we recommend adding Zermatt and the Matterhorn. Zermatt is also connected to St. Moritz by Glacier Express and this makes for nice round trip itinerary ending in Zurich. If you are active and would like to do some hiking or biking (or any other sports) we can combine that for you and offer you a more active experience.

A Switzerland custom vacation can take anywhere from 2 overnights for a Glacier Experience to 4 weeks for a in-depth vacation including the highlights of the country. You can travel by train, by private limousine or by rental car. Mountain and lake excursions are most recommended however Switzerland offers so much more. The Swiss are proud of their extensive hiking path network which is well sign posted and makes hiking safe and easy. The water of all lakes is clean and begs for water related activities in the summer.
