Lenzerheide

Lenzerheide is a mountain resort located in the Canton of Graubunden that offers many leisure activities for visitors. Known in winter as a snow ensured ski resort, Lenzerheide is also a well visited place in summer. Situated in a high valley with a sparkling lake and surrounded by mountains, Lenzerheide is a favorite place to spend your summer and winter vacation.

The title “Only partner holiday resort of the United Nation Childrens Fund UNICEF” speaks for itself: Lenzerheide loves families and does a lot to please them. Two sunny sides of the valley guarantee hiking and skiing adventures without end. Capuns and Pizzocheri aren’t the names of music stars but local specialties you shouldn’t miss to taste.

City Excursions in Lenzerheide

Chur
Chur can be reached in 40 minutes by public bus. The capital of the canton of Graubünden is said to be the oldest city in Switzerland. Chur’s old town has been restored for the last 20 years and is more or less car free. Visit the Cathedral, built between 1150 and 1272 or step into one of the many beautiful churches.

Summer Sports in Lenzerheide

All the popular summer sports, such as hiking, biking, swimming (in the lake) can be done in Lenzerheide plus much more: surfing, sailing and fishing on Lake Heidsee and golf in a fantastic landscape are just a few of the additional sports offered.

Hiking
106 miles (170 km) marked hiking paths wait to be explored. Hike in the beautiful high valley of Lenzerheide. Exciting cell phone safaris ensure that your children come along and even love to hike.

Nordic Walking
Three walking trails (from 2.5-7.5 miles length (4-12 km)) invite you to try this gentle full body training: a sport for everyone.

Mountain Biking
155 miles (250 km) marked trails, free ride and downhill courses and 20 GPS tours covering 572 miles (920 km) show you each corner of this great bike region. There is also the possibility to take the cable car to Rothorn and drive down by bike or get on the chairlift to Alp Stätz and then test the downhill tracks.

Golf
Play a round of golf close to pine and spruce forests, far away from streets and noise. The 18-hole golf range (Par 69) is situated at 4593 ft (1400 m) and belongs to the most beautiful Alpine golf courses in Europe.

Lido / Lake Heidsee
The Lido at Lake Heidsee if the perfect place to spend a sunny day: Lake Heidsee guarantees a refreshing bath, nice BBQ places that are well equipped invite you to still your hunger and a pirate ship at the Lido just waits to be conquered. If you haven’t had enough action, try to climb up the small climbing mountain at the Lido (climbing equipment can be rented) or simply take a long walk around the lake.

Winter Sports in Lenzerheide

Winter sports fans find a wide variety of possibilities, such as skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, tobogganing, Bavarian curling, winter hiking, snow shoeing, etc, but relaxing time is also an issue in this mountain resort: relax under warm blankets in a romantic horse-drawn carriage and take in the sun and the beautiful surroundings.

Hiking
50 miles (80 km) of prepared paths are at your disposal. Breathe in the fresh mountain air and explore the snowy landscapes.

Tobogganing
Various tobogganing trails guarantee fun. Either take a walk up the mountain, enjoy a fine Fondue and then race down on the illuminated toboggan run, or take the cable car up to the middle station of Rothorn and drive down to the valley.

Cross-Country Skiing
Cross-country skiers find 32 miles (52 km) perfectly prepared ski tracks which guide you through peaceful meadows and snowy forests, even across the frozen Lake Heidsee. If you haven’t had enough during the day, exercise on the illuminated round course in the center of Lenzerheide in the evening.

Skiing/Snowboarding
96 miles (155 km) slopes await skiers and snowboarders at an altitude of 4035-9400 ft (1230-2865 m). Snow guns guarantee enough snow at all times. 40 modern and fast ski transportation systems bring you up to the various peaks. Children are especially welcome: 12 specially designed lifts for children make sure that the youngsters enjoy the ride up as well. Every Friday, a slope is illuminated for night skiing.

Bavarian Curling
Have you ever tried Bavarian curling? Why not take a trial course and learn more about this social sport which isn’t as easy as it looks like. 21 ice rinks in and around Lenzerheide are available.

Location and Map

Located in the Canton of Graubünden, Lenzerheide is 81 miles (130 km) from Zurich Airport by car. There is no railway station in Lenzerheide, but the resort can be reached by train and bus (via Chur) within 2 hours from Zurich Airport.
