The alpine canton of Graubunden is only an hour away from Zurich and offers a lot of excitement for every taste. All the more time to wind down and enjoy! Succulent green fields, spicy mountain air, dreamy mountain lakes and tanning summer sun: plenty of reasons to spend your summer holidays in Graubunden. And not to mention all the winter sports opportunities!

Thanks to a panorama view you will realize quickly, that tons of historic rocks and mountain peaks are not the only thing to discover in the marvelous mountain world of Graubunden. Winter as well as summer will reward you by hiking or biking through our 150 valleys including the sunny Engadin. But for discovery, it offers also innumerable gulches and waterfalls or you take one of the many special trains through the splendid country side.

All other postcard motives are more or less clumsy copies from the near and far east, west, south and north. The mountains in Graubunden are original and the air in the alps will fog your sins. The eternal snow and the blue skies are overshadowing every other destination in the world.

Discover Graubunden

The Engadin is a popular travel destination for the Swiss and Europeans. Divided into the Upper and Lower Engadin it boasts lovely landscapes with dark-blue mountain lakes and a climate that make it a hikers paradise.

St. Moritz is among the best-known and most prestigious ski resorts in the world. The name 'St. Moritz' stands for a 'chic, vibrant and elegant' town. Many rich and famous enjoy second homes in a special atmosphere and a dry, tingling champagne climate! It takes 2 hours by train from Chur to St. Moritz.

Davos is regarded as one of Europe's oldest mountain resorts. Today Davos is a city way up in the mountains on 1560m that is popular all year round. It has been attracting skiers for generations and recently gained fame as a hip snowboarding destination. Distance from Chur 90 minutes.

Arosa is a small but charming mountain resort with excellent skiing. It is situated at an elevation of 1800m at the end of the wild Schanfigg Valley.  Guests staying at least one night in Arosa during summer season can use the infrastructure, such as cable cars, village bus, etc.  free of charge – 1 hour from Chur.

Flims, Laax and Falera are also called the "Weisse Arena" (white arena) and are known by hikers and bikers in summer as well as skiers and snowboarders in winter. While German is mostly spoken in Flims, Romansh, the forth language of Switzerland, is the official language in Laax and Falera – 1 hour from Chur.

Lenzerheide offers many leisure activities for visitors. Known in winter as a snow ensured ski resort, Lenzerheide is also a well visited place in summer. Situated in a high valley with a sparkling lake and surrounded by mountains, Lenzerheide is a 40 minutes bus ride away from Chur.

City Excursions in Graubunden

Chur
The capital of the canton of Graubünden is the oldest city in Switzerland. Chur’s authentic Old Town has been restored for the last 20 years and is now car free. Visit the Cathedral, built between 1150 and 1272 or step into one of the many beautiful churches.

Bündner Herrschaft (wine region)
Have you ever tasted Swiss wine? Visit one of the most important wine regions in Switzerland, the Bündner Herrschaft with the known wine villages Fläsch, Jenins, Maienfeld and Malans. Join a guided tour and learn about the region and the wine including wine tasting and snacks.

Rail Excursions in Graubunden

Bernina Express is a panoramic rail journey. Travelers pass UNESCO protected viaducts and go through many tunnels and over the Bernina mountain pass.  The memorable train / bus combo from Chur via Tirano (Italy) to Lugano takes 6 hours and you will have time for lunch in Italy.

Glacier Express in is a panoramic rail journey through the Alpine heartland of Switzerland, along rivers and in between mountains and meadows. The stretch between Chur and Zermatt takes 6 hours and passes by Disentis, Andermatt and Brig.

Museums in Graubunden

Rhaetian Museum (in Chur)
The Graubunden Museum of History includes archaeological, cultural and folk art objects from all over Graubünden from pre-historic times, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and Baroque periods through to the 19th and early 20th centuries.

Railway Museum (in Bergün)
Located in Bergün, right beside the Bernina Express line of the Rhaetian Railway, the new Albula Railway Museum is a must for all railway enthusiasts.

Segantini Museum (in St. Moritz)
A curious domed church-like building which holds the excellent Giovanni Segantini Museum displaying the beautiful work of this largely self-taught Symbolist who is acclaimed as the definitive painter of Alpine life.

Kirchner Museum (in Davos)
This museum represents the largest collection of works by Ernst Ludwig Kirchner in the world. The German expressionist painter, a leading figure in his time, moved to Davos in 1917 and remained there until he died.
