Engelberg is a charming village located in Central Switzerland, just one hour away from Lucerne. It is located at the foot of Mount Titlis and draws tourists for its perfect mix of culture and sports. Winter enthusiasts as well as friends of summer sports get their share in Engelberg, a village with many characteristics. The first revolving aerial cable-car in the world takes travelers from Engelberg to Mt. Titlis for many different leisure activities. Known among Swiss as a great ski area, Engelberg is also visited for its famous Benedictine Monastery. The Monastery Church with its organ (the largest in Switzerland) and the Monastery Library with its rich collection of historical volumes go back to the 12th century. The legend says that the voices of Angels (Angels = Engel in German) gave Engelberg its name. Listen well: you might hear them sing during your stay.
